how to sell stuff on ebay and make money

How to sell things on ebay and make money

Have lots of stuff just laying around and think you could use it to make some bucks? Then try and sell it on ebay!

ebay makes it super easy to sell item you no longer have a need for and give it a good new home while earning you some extra green.

The Listing
The first thing you need to do is post a listing. You can go to http://ebay.com/selling and start the process there.

The listing is what people looking for your product are going to see. Think of it as a classified ad in a newspaper.

Ebay even lets you sell right from your phone! Just a couple of snaps or a barcode scan and you can be selling in minutes! You can find out more here! http://pages.ebay.com/sellerinformation/learn-to-sell-online/mobile-app/index.html

The Photo
Once you write up a listing you will want to add some photos! Photos are the life blood of any post and have a large outcome on people buying your item!

Again ebay has some amazing article on how to do lighting, place your camera, and other tips and tricks.

My suggestion for getting noticed and getting the best price on a item is to take as many free picture of your item as you can. It is a few seconds more work for possibly a much larger return!

The Sell
The selling part can be the hardest part of the entire experience! You have to wait! Now it is just a waiting game to see who is going to buy your things!  If it doesn't sell ebay will often let you repost the item for free!

Simple trick for selling more on ebay

What to do
When selling items on ebay you might notice some products can be exactly the same but one sells for much more. Why is this? Often times it is because of a few simple things.

Have a great listing
Make sure when posting your item to sell on http://ebay.com/selling make sure you have a clear category in mind. Think about if you were wanting this product how would you find it on ebay? That is the first step to making sure you reach the right people with the most money to spend on your item.

After make sure you go into detail about the product. What is unique about the product? Why should I want this over an alternative item? You need to be more focused on what it is the buyer wants and what they are looking for.

Take good photos

Photos are crucial to getting more money for your item. People place a value on how an objects look. This is why many people pay thousands of dollars for fancy items in department stores when you can often find the same item at a second hand store. Mostly the difference in value is just perceived and that is what we are going to take advantage of.

A great resource is http://pages.ebay.com/sellerinformation/how-to-take-product-photos/index.html. Ebay has tons of easy to do notes on how to take photos. My personal suggestion is to build a small light box. This is what pros use and it can cost only $5 to make.

A link to making one is http://www.instructables.com/id/Super-Simple-Light-Tent/

I have seen a personal increase in sales from this one change.
